FRIENDS of Broomfield is a non-profit organization that provides support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through Day, Residential, Social & Travel and Supported Employment programs. Our mission is to enhance our community by creating opportunities for our participants through an innovative and person-centered approach.
As the Office Manager, I am fortunate to be at the front desk, at the center of many of our daily operations. I can see and hear how our programs promote independence, choice and control in many different ways. Whether that is with unique and meaningful Social & Travel outings and Day Program activities, our Direct Support Staff working with individuals on life skills or our Employment Coordinators assisting someone in finding a job where they can make and manage their own money. Our programs have provided people with IDD many different opportunities that otherwise may not be available to them.
As staff, we often reflect on how FRIENDS’ role is being there long-term for our participants, which does not always mean we will see a difference being made right away. However, it does mean that an even larger difference will be made, sometimes years down the road-an impact not only in the lives of participants, but on families, providers, and the community.
Our programs are primarily funded by Medicaid, which covers approximately 70-80% of actual costs. We fundraise in order to cover the remainder. This year, donations will have an even bigger impact on the lives of our Friends thanks to the Spallone Family, who will match dollar for dollar the first $5,000 donated.
A donation of any amount goes a long way. From myself and FRIENDS, thank you for your generosity!
