A Word From Jim Koontz

Serving on the Board of Directors (BOD) with FRIENDS is a gift. I enjoy my role working alongside others who have a passion and dedication to assisting and serving those in the IDD community. We offer a broad range of experience and bring it all together regularly, discussing the strategic direction of FRIENDS as an organization, helping make financial decisions, and offering volunteerism as much as possible.

I joined the BOD as an opportunity to learn more about the FRIENDS organization and to help educate others in the community, namely parents of individuals with IDD, about the services and resources available to them that often go unnoticed. My daughter, Grace, is a participant at FRIENDS, and it’s been a rewarding experience to see firsthand the impact the organization has on the lives of individuals and their families. I enjoy our collaborative spirit on the BOD, as '...many hands make light work...' It is a gift to be part of something so much bigger than myself—serving an amazing organization and the community it supports.

Why Your Leadership Matters
A Message From Our Founder & CEO

Dear Friend,

At FRIENDS of Broomfield, we believe that true community thrives when everyone has a place to belong, grow, and contribute. Our Board of Directors, BeFRIEND Young Professional Advisory Board, and Besties Youth In Action Board each play a vital role in ensuring that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have access to meaningful opportunities, lifelong support, and an inclusive future.

Our Board of Directors brings diverse expertise and leadership to the FRIENDS organization, providing strategic guidance, fiduciary oversight, and governance. Committed to our mission, they drive effective strategic planning and fund development to ensure sustainable support. With a focus on person-centered service and inclusive living, they work to enhance both our organization and the broader community.

Our BeFRIEND Young Professional Advisory Board is made up of passionate young professionals eager to network, develop leadership skills, and create lasting change. They support our programs through fundraising, volunteering, and advocating for our mission in the greater Broomfield area and beyond.

Our Besties Youth In Action Board empowers high school students to make an impact early, fostering leadership, collaboration, and a heart for service as they support their peers with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Each of these boards is essential to the success of FRIENDS, and we are always looking for new voices and fresh perspectives to join us in this work. If you are passionate about inclusion, advocacy, and creating a more connected community, I invite you to apply today. Together, we can ensure that every individual is seen, heard, and valued.

With gratitude,

Gina Coufal
